EnGenius Technologies ESR9855G Wireless 300N Multimedia Enhanced Gaming Router
EnGenius Technologies' ESR9855G Wireless N router comes with a multitude of advanced features and an easy-to-use setup interface good enough for every home and home gaming user. Even under a heavier load from multiple connected devices it offers high throughput. Yet, as with any router, it doesn't do quite as well if the router is further away from the device that is wireless connected to it. While that may be a downside it shouldn't be a problem for most users and there are far more positives about this router.
Design and technology wise this router offers a lot. The interestingly bright orange and glossy black design is certain to catch attention if you're for that sort of thing. It also has two Dipole antennas and a Ubicom IP7K and Atheros AR9223 chipset. The front panel includes LED lights representating power on, connection, WAN and WPA security. As for the back there are four ports for wired connection, a WAN port and the power switch. On top of the router if a WPS button for connecting WPS compatible device. And with the two holes on the bottom of the router you'll have the ability to mount the router on a wall if need be.
To Setup the router you'll need to have it directly wired to a computer (using a port on the back of the router) but it's still pretty easy and quick to set up. The included CD, which sets up the router, also includes a user manual for the EnGenius ESR9855G router. The instructions for setting up this router are very detailed, with illustrations, on how to connect the router and get it up and running. You may want to turn on wireless security though after everything is said and done if it isn't enabled already. Which can be easily done through the clean configuration interface accessible through your web browser where you'll be able to find the wireless wizard to help you set up these security settings complete with helpful descriptions. Yet there are advanced settings to satisfy the more experienced router users too. Including QoS which can be a must, in some situations, depending on how many active devices you have using your internet connection through your router regardless of whether or not it's wired or wirelessly connected.
Again, while wireless bandwidth may be an issue if the router is further away from the wireless device it's still an excellent device that will be problem free (connection-wise) for a vast majority of users and even small businesses.
